Surgery for strabismus

Strabismus is more than an aesthetic problem, it is a disturbance in the cooperation of the two eyes. In early childhood, strabismus is a treatable disorder, but in adulthood, strabismus surgery is only a cosmetic intervention, it usually does not improve vision significantly. For many people, strabismus is a severe cosmetic concern, so the operation is worth going through, because in most cases, a normal or close to normal realignment is possible. The surgical intervention is minimal, patients may leave the clinic right after the operation.

Treatment of severe near-or farsightedness

Laser vision correction is recommended up to minus 12 or plus 6 diopters. Those who have a more severe refractive error, laser is unfortunately not an optimal solution. Today, however, there is an alternative to glasses or contact lenses in these cases too. We use a successful surgical technique identical to the one used for cataracts and performed worldwide, which can sometimes improve vision to perfect clarity. The minimally invasive ultrasound surgery is performed, which is safe and has an extremely fast recovery rate. Capable of curing even extreme refractive errors, this intervention – which is identical to the one used for cataracts – is recommended for severe farsightedness of +6 to +12 diopters, and severe shortsightedness of -12 to -30 diopters.

Even the highly short- or far-sighted patients can have clear vision after surgery!

Cataract removal

Cataract is the blurring of the lens of the eye, usually manifested in aging people and leading to significantly deteriorated vision.

Unfortunately, this disorder cannot be cured by laser or drugs, and in the past, it led to blindness. Today, only one cure is known, but with a perfect outcome: the blurred lens is surgically removed and replaced by a special plastic lens.

We use the most up-to-date American technology at our clinic, the ultrasound procedure called phacoemulsification, which follows the principle of minimal invasion. This surgical procedure requires a much smaller wound than traditional cataract operations. These wounds of only a few millimeters seal by themselves, so recovery is very fast. There is no need for general anesthesia, and the patient only has to spend one night away from home. This night is not spent in a hospital, but in a medically supervised hotel room with whoever came along with the patient on Margaret Island in Danubius Thermal Hotel.

Recently we have introduced in our institute the most modern artificial lens is available, which means the opportunity for sharp sight without any tool, you will need glasses neither for reading the newspaper, nor for going out! This lens is suitable for PRELEX (PREsbyopic Lens EXchange) surgery. Combined with our laser vision correction, virtually anybody eligible for these treatments.

The cost of the surgery includes one night in a two-bed room with medical supervision, the artificial lens and all other materials needed, and checkups.
